» Transformations - Jo Berry and Pat Magee - 'Building Bridges' - Interview by Iain McNay
On 12th October 1984 a bomb exploded in the Grand Hotel in Brighton. The majority of the senior figures in the Conservative Party Conference were staying there at the time as it was during the Conservative Party annual conference. Five people were killed including Jo Berry's father, Sir Anthony Berry, the MP for Southgate. IRA member Pat Magee was convicted of the bombing and sentenced to 8 life sentences. He was however released from prison in 1999 after the Good Friday peace agreement. Jo Berry was determined that something good should come out of the tragedy and eventually met Pat Magee several months after he was released. They now work together in the area of Reconciliation and Conflict Resolution. In this moving and intimate interview they tell their stories.
